Main System Features
For this ultra-luxury high-rise condo renovation in the Wilshire Corridor, Malibu Wired seamlessly integrated motorized shades, drapery, lighting control, audio/video, and home automation. Our shades specialist worked hand-in-hand with the designers to flawlessly conceal Lutron roller shades and drapery tracks behind built-in pelmets up to 165″ wide. The Control4 system provides elegant control over AV components like flush LG TVs, in-ceiling TruAudio speakers, and hidden subwoofers. Contemporary lighting scenes are activated with intelligently wired Control4 switches and touchscreens. Malibu Wired had the pleasure of working on this newly renovated high-rise condo with dramatic views from the Pacific Ocean to Downtown LA. Our shades specialist Nadiya collaborated closely with the client’s designer and general contractor to achieve the desired finish result. The goal was to seamlessly integrate Lutron motorized roller shades and drapery tracks behind built-in pelmets while blocking direct sunlight in certain rooms and integrating with the Control4 home automation system.
Over the course of a few months, Nadiya meticulously oversaw the prewire, window measurement, and remeasurement process to ensure there was enough space behind the built-in pelmets to accommodate dual shades or a single shade with a drapery track. The end result exceeded everyone’s expectations.
In the dining and living rooms, single Lutron drapery tracks were paired with single Lutron roller shades in the sheer Basketweave 90 5% Oyster Beige fabric. The study and main bedroom featured dual shades with the sheer Basketweave fabric as well as the blackout Value Premiere 0% fabric in Graphite. The extra-wide shades ranged from 121″ up to an impressive 165″ in width with half-wrapped architectural bottom bars.
The system design was masterfully executed by our talented designer Andrew, who worked closely with an interior design team based in South Africa to align with the clients’ vision while they coordinated from their home base in London. Through numerous video calls and with our showroom located on Sunset Boulevard, everyone collaborated seamlessly to deliver this stunning installation.
Quality components were paramount, leveraging TruAudio’s small in-ceiling speakers paired with a hidden 10″ 1000-watt James Loudspeaker subwoofer tucked away in a cabinet for rich, impactful bass that didn’t compromise the space’s design. Flush-mounted LG OLED TVs were installed in custom cabinetry that can pivot up to 24″ out from the wall. Control4’s contemporary lighting system with intelligent wiring allows for elegant yet powerful illumination control.
The Control4 home automation system ties the entire experience together with flush-mounted touchscreens and Neeo remotes providing seamless control over audio, video, lighting, shades, and more. This level of integration ensures the technology enhances the living experience without detracting from the stunning design.
